Road Cycling
In conjunction with PrintRun we have developed event specific seatpost timing kits with embedded ChronoTrack® B Tags providing excellent single use tag read rates.
Each kit also includes number stickers to attach to the front, and side of the entrant's helmets to assist identification of entrants by photographers. We are delighted that this concept has been adopted by ChronoTrack® and released internationally to other ChronoTrack® timers.
"We (timed the Gran Fondo) with bike tags and had the best results ever" - Kevin Hupp, Mettle Events, Virginia
For high density start lines we use ChronoTrack® mat lines, for all other locations and timing lines we would normally use ChronoTrack®’s FlashPoints (tripod mounted aerials).
ChronoTrack®'s FlashPoint aerials provide a clean road for cyclists on which to finish - no bumps from cables or mats. The only thing placed on the road is a broad strip of duct tape to denote the finish line (please note the road must be dry before the tape goes down).
Active Tags
We also offer the option of using ChronoTrack’s active tags for your road cycling events. The active tags are contained in a specifically designed low profile clip designed to be attached to a bike's seat stays.
The aerial for active tags is a thin wire loop taped to the road. The active tags provide a very high signal strength. The active tags must be returned. Any and all non returned or damaged active tags will be charged at replacement cost.
Road Bike Relay Teams
For Road Relay events we can provide number plate holders which enable each team's members to share a single timed number-plate ensuring each member completes their designated leg prior to the following team member commencing their leg.
Each Road team member attaches a holder to their seat-post and the timing number is transferred on completion of the lap or leg.
Tag Fitting - Road Cycling Events
Excellent read rates at cycling speeds. For most events we use a seatpost kit with a passive tag (B-tag) embedded in the long peel off strip.
Solo and Tandem Events
Attach the number sticker directly to your seatpost. For tandems please attach to the stoker's seatpost.
Please ensure the number sticker is not obscured by a seatpost bag, or drink bottles as this may negatively impact on the tag's read strength. Variations on fitting are possible.
If you need help please see a timing official at your event for assistance.
Active Tags
We also offer an active tag option.
For road bike events we provide a specially designed clip which holds the active tag. The low profile clip is designed to fit to the bike's chainstays.
Unlike our passive tag options, we require both clip and active tag be returned after the event.
Relay Teams Events
Each team is issued with a numberplate with a single B-tag attached to one side. Each team member is issued with a plastic numberplate holder.
Attach the plastic holder to each team member's seatpost using two cable ties.
Insert the relay numberplate with tag fitted fully into the plastic tag holder. When you have crossed the timing line to finish your leg of the relay, remove the relay numberplate and pass to your next team member.
Ensure the next team member has fully inserted the team's numberplate into their holder before riding off for their leg.
Please ensure the team's numberplate is not obscured by a seatpost bag, or drink bottles as this may negatively impact on the tag's read strength
