Mountain Biking
Cross Country
For Cross Country type mountainbike events we recommend the use of ChronoTrack® B-Tags attached to the reverse of MTB number plates. The number plates are then attached to the bike’s cables in front of the handlebars for solo events, or inserted in a plastic holder for relay team events.
For high density start lines terrain permitting we use ChronoTrack® mat lines, for all other locations and timing lines we would normally use ChronoTrack®’s FlashPoints (tripod mounted aerials).
This option provides excellent read rates using a cost efficient disposable tag.
Enduro
For Enduro events we recommend the use of ChronoTrack® B-Tags attached to the reverse of MTB number plates. The number plates are then attached to the bike’s cables in front of the handlebars.
For high density start lines terrain permitting we use ChronoTrack® mat lines, for all other locations and timing lines we would normally use ChronoTrack®’s FlashPoints (tripod mounted aerials). Flashpoints enable timing points to be located in challenging terrain.
This option provides excellent read rates using a cost efficient disposable tag.
We can also offer the option of using ChronoTrack®’s active tags for Enduro and Downhill events. The active tags are contained in a specifically designed low profile clip, and the clip is then attached to the MTB’s fork or downtube (event dependent).
The active tags provide a very high signal strength. The active tags must be returned. Any and all non returned or damaged active tags will be charged at replacement cost.
Lap Events
For lap events we recommend the use of ChronoTrack® B-Tags attached to the reverse of MTB number plates.
Our experience shows this option provides excellent read rates even over 24 hour events, using these cost efficient disposable tags.
Tag Fitting - Mountain Bike Events
A single ChronoTrack B-Tag is attached to the reverse of your number plate.
Solo Event
Attach the numberplate with tag attached to your cables using ties provided.
Avoid having the timing tag touch/be covered by your handlebars and/or brake cables as this will have a negative impact on your tag's read strength and may result in no reads.
Polarity impacts on read strength. Look at the numberplate from side on. Try and keep the numberplate as vertical as possible.
If you need help please see a timing official at your event for assistance.
Relay Events
Attach the plastic holder to your cables using ties provided.
Polarity impacts on read strength. When fitting the plastic holder look at the plastic holder from side on. Try and keep the plastic holder as vertical as possible.
Polarity impacts on read strength. Look at the numberplate from the front - it must be horizontal.
Ensure the numberplate is fully inserted in the plastic holder when you cross the timing line.
